History
The scientific session „Ecology and protection of ecosystems” - EPE - was initiated in 1995 by the late Professor Dr. Constantin Măzăreanu (1941-2005), head of the Department of Biology of University of Bacau.
With skill and dedication he was able to bring to the same table of scientific debates, specialists from prestigious institutions of Romanian higher education and scientific research.
Since the first edition, the scientific session „Ecology and protection of ecosystems” has been conceived as an equal partnership between two important institutions, from scientific and cultural point of view: University of Bacau through the Department of Biology and “Ion Borcea” Natural Sciences Museum Complex of Bacau.
These meetings were as many opportunities for the researchers to make known their professional achievements and share their experience.
In 2003 at Bacau, was founded “The Society of Limnology” (www.limnologie.ro), as a result of these fruitful meetings between professionals. This is one of the reasons for which in every edition of the scientific session „Ecology and protection of ecosystems” are also organized meetings and round tables with the members of “The Society of Limnology”.
Over the first eight editions, the scientific session „Ecology and protection of ecosystems” has gained popularity in the Romanian scientific environment and from the ninth edition, aims to bring at the same table both Romanian and foreign specialists, in a collegial environment of debate on current biological issues.
